About Our Bloggers
Yuma Staff Picks is a book review blog run by staff members of the Yuma County Library District in Yuma, AZ. Participants submit reviews of library books they've read and offer suggestions about what to read next.
Our bloggers are:
Becky Brendel is an Information Librarian at the Main Yuma Library. She moved to Yuma from Pittsburgh, PA because she'd gotten sick of the rain, but is even more impressed by the sight distance while driving without all those pesky hills and trees in the way! Her favorite book genres are historical mysteries, classics, and manga.
Elia Juarez is the Reference Librarian at the Heritage Library. She has been with YCLD since 2011, and worked as a Library Assistant in Youth Services and Spanish Outreach before becoming a Librarian. Elia has lived in Yuma (mostly consistently) since she was seven (though she refuses to say how long ago that was) and considers herself a local. She mainly enjoys reading Young Adult fiction, science fiction, and graphic novels and is a proud geek who regularly attends comic-cons and has just begun venturing into the world of Cosplay. Elia also loves to cook, eat, and travel.
Sherri Levek is a Library Assistant at Yuma County Main Library, where she’s surrounded by her favorite things everyday: books! She enjoys both fiction and nonfiction and continues to read YA, despite the recent brouhaha over adults reading books written for a teen audience. Sherri is an animal lover, a fan of foreign films, and a voracious reader. She believes hope, a good book, a strong cup of coffee, and a little magic will get you through almost anything.
Andrew Zollman is the Yuma County Library District Business Librarian. He is originally from Tucson where he got his start in libraries. His interests revolve around computers, tabletop gaming, reading manga, fantasy, and historical fiction, and urban contemporary titles. Many of the books he reads have strong characters or characters seeking to become stronger, within a compelling and well thought out story to find their own destinies.

Lauren Regenhardt is the Teen
Services Manager for the library district. She enjoys writing, fangirling
over Colton Haynes and Joseph Morgan, and reading young adult Dystopian novels. She’s a tough critic on the movie adaptations but can’t help but see the films
anyway. She loves all things pug and might be the only librarian ever
allergic to cats.
